Formed in 1977 in Glasgow from the roots of short-lived punk band Johnny & the Self-Abusers, Simple Minds released their debut album Life in a Day in 1979 and topped global charts when their song Don't You (Forget About Me) was used in John Hughes' film The Breakfast Club. Charts the rise of working-class kids in post-industrial Scotland to a chart-topping musical force via the emergence of MTV and the impact of Live Aid.
